Businesses working with ActionCOACH boost revenues, profits and hiring

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — While politicians continue to grope for answers about what to do about the economy, businesses that work with ActionCOACH Business Coaches just may have discovered a system that policy makers may want to consider for themselves.

New independent research conducted among businesses in one of the most economically challenged regions in the country reveals that business coaching (specifically ActionCOACH business coaching) leads to increased revenues, profits and hiring.

The new study is a continuation of research conducted last year that showed that return on investment (ROI) for businesses that worked with an ActionCOACH was upwards of $7.50 for every dollar spent.

This year’s research confirmed those findings, and also revealed that based on current ROI, ActionCOACH business coaching could deliver more than $34 billion in extra income to Florida businesses.

In addition, ActionCOACH coached companies increased their hiring of new team members by 7 percent over the course of the study.

ActionCOACH USA and Canada CEO Jodie Shaw viewed the independent research as confirmation of internal numbers the company has tracked and benchmarked for years.

“These results not only confirm previous studies on the effectiveness and return on investment of business coaching, but also offered new insights as to the benefits of our proprietary systems and the overall financial value of the business coaching process.”

The study showed that companies coached by ActionCOACH saw an increase in profits of 61 percent, which translated into more than $160,000 per company. The return on investment metric also increased, jumping 44 percent to an average of return of $10.80 for every dollar spent.

“In an election year, politicians pay lip service to creating stronger businesses and creating more jobs,” Shaw added. “In studies like this one, we can see that business is the real engine of growth in the economy and that ActionCOACH can boost the power and effectiveness of that engine. Just imagine what kind of economy we’d have if we could boost employment 7 percent nationwide.”

Formalized research such as the Florida study not only add to the credibility of business coaching as a proven way to build businesses, it also offers assurance to business owners and entrepreneurs who may have never heard of business coaching that the ActionCOACH systems work — and can be effective for their companies.

“The studies prove that business coaching offers a return, and if owners follow the system, they will get results,” Shaw said. “There’s incredible value in being able to go to an owner and show them they are guaranteed to get results with the ActionCOACH system. Very few coaching companies or business consultants can make that claim – and back it up with real results.”

ActionCOACH, was founded by Brad Sugars in 1993 and over the past two decades, has become the world’s number one business coaching and executive coaching firm, with more than 1,000 offices in 39 countries. To learn more, go to actioncoach.com.

Why did you start a business? Was it because you wanted more freedom, more time, more money?

What ever it is, if you are being perfectly honest with yourself, chances are you haven’t achieved that goal. In fact, studies show that 86% of businesses fail to achieve that goal even after 10 or more years. There is a reason for this sad state of affairs and I’d like to share it with you.

On this Friday, February 10th, at 11:00am, I am sponsoring a live broadcast by Michael Mills, Managing Partner of Business Design Corporation, on How to Systemize a Business. This presentation explains why most businesses don’t work and it provides practical instruction on how you can be part of the 14% of businesses that actually do work.

This presentation runs just under an hour. Register now so you can replicate what you do and create a business that runs reliably and predictably with top grade loyal employees who actually do what you expect them to do.

General Colin Powell – A Leadership Primer Summary

“Leadership is the art of accomplishing more than the science of management says is possible.”

Lesson 1. “Being responsible sometimes means pissing people off.”

Rob Garibay

Lesson 2. “The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.”

Lesson 3. “Don’t be buffaloed by experts and elites. Experts often possess more data than judgment. Elites can become so inbred that they produce hemophiliacs who bleed to death as soon as they are nicked by the real world.”

Lesson 4. “Don’t be afraid to challenge the pros, even in their own backyard.”

Lesson 5. “Never neglect details. When everyone’s mind is dulled or distracted the leader must be doubly vigilant.”

Lesson 6. “You don’t know what you can get away with until you try.”

Lesson 7. “Keep looking below surface appearances. Don’t shrink from doing so (just) because you might not like what you find.”

Lesson 8. “Organization doesn’t really accomplish anything. Plans don’t accomplish anything, either. Theories of management don’t much matter. Endeavors succeed or fail because of the people involved. Only by attracting the best people will you accomplish great deeds.”

Lesson 9. “Organization charts and fancy titles count for next to nothing.”

Lesson 10. “Never let your ego get so close to your position that when your position goes, your ego goes with it.”

Lesson 11. “Fit no stereotypes. Don’t chase the latest management fads. The situation dictates which approach best accomplishes the team’s mission.”

Lesson 12. “Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.”

Lesson 13. “Powell’s Rules for Picking People: Look for intelligence and judgment, and most critically, a capacity to anticipate, to see around corners. Also look for loyalty, integrity, a high energy drive, a balanced ego, and the drive to get things done.”

Lesson 14. “Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate and doubt, to offer a solution everybody can understand.”

Lesson 15. Part I: “Use the formula P=40 to 70, in which P stands for the probability of success and the numbers indicate the percentage of information acquired.” Part II: “Once the information is in the 40 to 70 range, go with your gut.”

Lesson 16. “The commander in the field is always right and the rear echelon is wrong, unless proved otherwise.”

Lesson 17. “Have fun in your command. Don’t always run at a breakneck pace. Take leave when you’ve earned it: Spend time with your families. Corollary: surround yourself with people who take their work seriously, but not themselves, those who work hard and play hard.”

Lesson 18. “Command is lonely. The essence of leadership is the willingness to make the tough, unambiguous choices that will have an impact on the fate of the organization.”

No business can grow and flourish when they compete exclusively on price. To help businesses understand how they should position themselves in the marketplace, Oklahoma-based ActionCOACH Business Coach Rob Garibay will deliver his presentation, “Position your Company Above the Competition by Creating a Brand Promise Through a USP and Guarantee with Teeth,” at the 2012 Business Excellence Forum in Memphis Tennessee at the Hilton Memphis on January 13 and 14, 2012.

“Many businesses struggle to stand out from their competition and they end up in a position where the marketplace can actually destroy their business through discounting,” Garibay said. “This is a significant barrier to the success of many businesses because they actually lose money each time they make a sale. When you differentiate yourself based on real value, you don’t run that risk.”

It is not uncommon for businesses to believe that the only way they can compete is through lowering their prices, but in reality that is the last thing any business should do. Instead, companies should find ways to add value, real and perceived, to what they do and that can be done through a USP (Unique Selling Proposition) or Guarantee.

“Discovering what differentiates your business from your competition is an in-depth process,” Garibay said. “The goal of this seminar is to help businesses discover how to do this and give a guided pathway for discovering what your brand promise should be, eliminating the need to compete on price.”

And over his years coaching businesses, Garibay knows how important this can be.

“Having a brand promise is the core of the message you send to the marketplace and becomes the source for generating meaningful marketing that compels your target to respond. Simply put, it can make the difference between swimming in a red ocean or a blue ocean for most businesses.”

In addition to Garibay, the 2012 Business Excellence Forum will feature a number of outstanding speakers with expertise in the world of small business, in addition to networking events, workshops seminars and breakout sessions.

The Business Excellence Forum is sponsored by ActionCOACH as part of the company’s continued commitment to business re-education throughout the world.
Maxwell says “we talk about people that leave footprints in the sands of time. You can tell where they have been and they have made a difference… There are a lot of people that don’t leave their footprints in the sands at time, they leave their “buttprints” in the sands of time. They are not going anywhere. They are not people of action.”

We are moving because we are people of action. We have things to do, we have places to go, we have people to help, because we are ActionCOACH! We are people of Action!

This morning, hundreds gathered to hear President and Chief Operation Officer of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, at the Business Leaders Roundtable, hosted by Journey Church. Chick-fil-A is one of the nation’s largest family owned business with over 1,500 restaurants and more than 50,000 employees.

Mr. Cathy’s presentation opened with a video that has over 2.8 million YouTube views from a comedian, Tim Hawkins, titled Chick-fil-A (http://youtu.be/NsJHqstPuNo). The video of Tim Hawkins is of him singing a song describing his deep love for Chick-fil-A which made the entire room at Journey church to laugh.

Mr. Cathy opened up the leadership session by describing the Chick-fil-A Corporate Purpose: “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.” He discussed a concept from Matthew Chapter 5, Verse 41 which says “If someone force you to go one mile, go with him two miles.” Chick-fil-A has embraced the idea that you must create remarkable experience which in return will create raving fans for your business. Experiences that are so profound, that they “tweet” before they even leave the parking lot.

Some of the examples of great customer service Mr. Cathy described were truly above and beyond. In one Chick-fil-A store, they keep chicken nuggets that have gone past their time and they wrap them up for dogs that come through the drive through. This has been so powerful that on car rides, these dogs bark when they see Chick-fil-A restaurants.

Another example was of how they train employees to carry food trays in their left hand, so they can pull out the chair to seat customers with their right hand. Then once customers are seated, the employee ensures that the temperature and flavor is to the customers requirements. They also check back with the guest after a couple minutes to ask, “May I refresh your beverage?” Chick-fil-A trains their employees to create remarkable experiences which leads to huge profits.

In the most recent book that Mr. Cathy’s father wrote, Wealth is it Worth it? business man and philanthropist Warren Buffett said, “I can’t remember exactly what I paid for the last Chick-fil-A I had or the last shirt I bought. But one this I do remember is how I got treated. You forget the price, but nobody ever forgets how they’re treated.”

Our challenge as business owners, is to think about out customers, write down everything that they expect of us. Be sure that you are meeting all of those items and then the fun begins. Begin to think about how you can create remarkable experiences to turn your customers into raving fans.
