Tesla CEO says they can rebuild Puerto Rico’s shattered power grid

How could you impact the world with your business?

Today, Puerto Rico Governor, Ricardo Rossello, is expected to speak with Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla about rebuilding the country’s power grid.

Weeks ago, Hurricane Maria devastated the island, leaving 95% of the residents without power.

Musk tweeted his businesses could rebuild Puerto Rico’s electricity system using solar power and independent batteries.

“The Tesla team has done this for many smaller islands around the world, but there is no scalability limit, so it can be done for Puerto Rico too. Such a decision would be in the hands of the PR govt, PUC, any commercial stakeholders and, most importantly, the people of PR.” Elon Musk.

The Puerto Rico Governor tweeted back, “Let’s talk.”

Reports say that Tesla is delaying its semi truck unveiling by more than two weeks. The company is diverting resources toward helping with recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.

Governor Rossello is expected to talk with the Telsa CEO later today.

I wonder if Elon Musk, as he was building his first businesses, thought that he would one day help restore 3.5 million lives after a major disaster.

Most business owners get into business to make a profit for themselves, but many CEOs fail to realize the impact they can have in the world for good by growing their companies.

Not only does your business solve a need in our society, but business creates abundance where there were no resources before.

With scaling up a company, you provide more jobs for your community. When you employ someone, you aren’t just paying a person a wage. You are giving a father resources to provide for his family, giving a little girl dance lessons, and providing medical care for a family member with cancer.

Increases profits gives us increased opportunities to give. What cause or social ill in your community could be championed with more resources?

I have the best job in the world. As a business coach, I get to help business owners scale up their companies and fulfill their vision.

How could you scale up your company’s vision to impact more lives?
